In Memory of my Mother Eileen Baxter and in Honor of my Father Bob Baxter, her loving caregiver of 11 years.

In past years on my Memory Walk page, I have honored my Mother who fought this cruel disease for 11 years. This year, i would like to honor my Father who was Mother's primary caregiver for nearly 11 years. During that time while in his 60's and 70's, he continued to work full time in order to have the funds to pay a daytime caregiver and maintain group health insurance to pay for the numerous drugs necessary for Mother's care. During all that tme he NEVER complained and would not hear of moving Mother to an assisted living facility as he knew she would receive better care and be more comfortable at home. He was often up with her several times a night if she was not well or uncomfortable, and all the while seldom if ever missed work. If there is ever anyone who truly lived his wedding vows "for better or worse, in sickness and in health", it is my Father. He is a testament to the strength, courage, selflessness, and perseverance it takes to be a caregiver of someone with this disease, and I am so proud of him and honored to be his daughter.

Currently more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's Disease, and countless numbers of spouses, children, grandchildren and friends are affected also as they live with and watch their loved one suffer the effects of this horrible disease.

In support of all the victims of Alzheimer's Disease and their caregivers, I want to do my part to fight Alzheimers, but I need to ask for your support in sponsoring me as I participate in the OKC Memory Walk on October 24. Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.

I want to thank you in advance for supporting my efforts. With your help, I am on the MOVE to end Alzheimer’s!

Suzanne
